Where do I need to give notice?
You give notice at the register office for the district where you have lived for the last seven full days. Search by town, county or postcode to find the office covering each of you.
What this means for you
If you and your partner live in different districts, you each give notice at your own office — two appointments, two fees, one waiting period that effectively starts from the later notice.
Where you marry is separate again: for a civil ceremony away from a register office, the ceremony district's registration service supplies the registrars.
Simply Married is an independent planning service, not a register office or government department. Confirm details directly with the office before booking.
